The huge success of Canvas HD and Canvas 2 has made Micromax has gain the trust of its audience. They have launched another equally outstanding product, Micromax Canvas 4.
Here’s a review of what this Smartphone is exactly all about.
Micromax Canvas 4 Design/Build
The design of Micromax Canvas 4 is pretty much similar to its predecessors, though it is more polished than them. It’s available in gray and white color. It has a 5-inch display and the Menu, Home and Back keys are at the bottom. Front camera is of 5 megapixels and is above the display. It has a sturdy feel due to the aluminum frame in the middle which acts as cellular antenna.
Display
The screen has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and the color depth is about 16.7 million. The higher resolution makes images, icons and text look much sharper. The screen’s color temperature looked to be a little bit cold, with a tinge of blue in whites. Viewing angles are quite good and Corning Gorilla glass is there to prevent the screen from the scratches.
Interface/Software
It has Android 4.2.1, Jelly Bean. Four themes, Mocha, Raspberry, Mint and the default one are offered. Like other Android phones, there are 5 home screens that you can customize with apps and widgets of your choice. Some shortcuts like Wi-Fi and GPS etc are also there at the top. It also has the Daydream feature.
New ways of unlock are also there, for example, unlocking with air blow or shaking. There is a feature “Pause on look away” which uses your front camera to detect whether you are looking at the screen or not and the video will be paused if you are looking away. Brightness and volume can be decreased or increased by swiping while watching the video. There are a lot of other video related features as well.
The music player also has new features like the Micromax online music store from where you can download the tracks. Equalizer settings are also available. The Messages app has also been modified. A pre-installed movie streaming app is present through witch movies can be watched for free.
Camera
The rear camera is of 13 megapixels and the front camera of 5 megapixels. The app includes normal, smile detection, face beauty, panorama, exposure compensation, photosphere, and HDR modes. A burst mode is also there which enables you to take 99 shots all at once. A self timer up to ten seconds is also there. Best results were seen in daylight. The user can use the front camera for video conferencing.
Performance
It is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core processor with PowerVR SGX544MP GPU and 1GB RAM. Internal storage memory is 16 GB and 10 GB is available for the users. The overall navigation process is quite impressive. The launching of apps, scrolling through web pages, playing games and switching between apps is quite smooth. The battery would last for about 8 to 9 hours if the usage is heavy.
Conclusion
Micromax Canvas 4 is the budget smartphone who wants to experience high end features in less prices without worrying about built quality. What do you think about Canvas 4? Share your views with us.
