Acer finally announced Aspire Timeline Ultra at CES 2012, a brand new ultrabook described as the finest in the world, the Aspire S5 . In line, Acer introduced this other device with a screen size of 14 or 15 inches but has not the finesse of the Aspire S5 but adopts a DVD player. There are few differences between the devices in terms of hardware as it has the same technologies.
The Aspire Timeline Ultra features the latest Intel® Core ™ i Series, the choice between a disk storage SSD or HDD. Otherwise, the Timeline Ultra has HDMI and USB 3.0. The Aspire S5 carries definite improvements over Acer’s first ultrabook release, the Aspire S3, and the A200 tablet hits a very reasonable price point for its capabilities.
“That S5 is quite significant,” analyst Tim Bajarin of Creative Strategies said after the Acer press event. “It looks like the thinnest and lightest, and it sets the bar for the rest of the ultrabook vendors,” he continued. The Aspire S5 has a 34-cm (13.3-inch) screen and is 15 mm at its thickest point. The ultrabook weighs slightly less than 1.35 kg (three pounds).
